Periodicals can be divided into several different classifications according to different standards, and core periodicals and ordinary periodicals are one of them. What is the difference between them? Next, Xiaobian will show you the difference between core journals and ordinary journals.
1. What is a core journal?
Core journals are identified by many authoritative experts in academic circles and finally determined according to the citation rate, reprint rate, abstract rate and other indicators of journals. The standards for confirming core journals are also formulated by authoritative experts in academic circles and libraries. Although the evaluation and entry standards of school libraries are different, the core journal catalogue has been widely recognized by the academic community.
2. What is a general journal?
Periodicals other than the core periodicals catalogue are called ordinary periodicals.
3. Primary and secondary Periodicals
The so-called first-class periodicals generally refer to the periodicals that are recognized by experts in the industry and have great influence. Most of the first-class periodicals are sponsored by relevant national ministries and commissions or national first-class societies (associations). The foreign language versions of first-class periodicals can be regarded as first-class periodicals.
Because the state has no clear regulations on which journals belong to the first-class journals, and there is no corresponding evaluation mechanism, many units have differences on the selection criteria of the first-class journals. On June 5, 1991, the former State Commission for science and technology and the General Administration of press and publication jointly issued the measures for the administration of scientific and technological periodicals, which stipulates in Article 6, "Scientific and technological periodicals are divided into National Periodicals and local periodicals according to their competent departments. National Periodicals refer to those in charge of departments under the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, democratic parties and National People's organizations; local periodicals refer to those in charge of committees, departments and bureaus of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government." The measures for the administration of scientific and technological journals only divides scientific journals into "national" and "local" levels, and no longer uses the concept of "first-class journals" or "second-class journals". In other words, no matter scientific and technological journals or social science journals, the state has no longer divided them into "primary" or "secondary".
