The launching ceremony of AiScholar Academic Committee was held on July 13th, 2024 in Guangzhou, with over 500 experts and professionals from academia, governmental departments, and industries across the globe present at the event. The committee is established with the vision to create a high-end platform for cross-disciplinary communication and industry-university-research collaborative innovation, promoting academic exchange and high-quality technology development. The launching ceremony marks the founding of the first large academic committee in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area that is initiated by a private enterprise and gathers leading experts and resources of innovation in a broad range of disciplines from around the world.
Xinwei Yu, Vice Chairperson of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made a speech at the launching ceremony, sharing her expectation for AiScholar Academic Committee to inject new impetus and vitality to academic exchange and technology innovation and contribute to the high-quality development of science and technology in Guangzhou and even across Guangdong. Yulong Yin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, also delivered an address at the event, expressing his vision of joining hands with the committee to create a new ecosystem of technology innovation featuring more openness, sharing, and collaboration to enable more efficient conversion of research achievements into real-world applications.
Zhaocheng Wang, a professor of Tsinghua University and a member of the Presidium of AiScholar Academic Committee, has introduced the committee to participants in the event. He pointed out in his speech that the committee will, embracing the roles as “a connector for academic exchange, a global think tank, and brainpower for scientific research”, promote global cross-disciplinary academic exchange, accelerate the conversion of research achievements to practical solutions, and provide more professional support for scientific researchers.
Integration and innovation: empowering industry-university-research collaborations
The Presidium of AiScholar Academic Committee consists of 17 experts with high academic impacts, including 12 academicians. The committee also invites high-caliber experts in different disciplines as chairs for its Power & Energy Technical Committee, Power Systems & Integrated Energy Systems Technical Committee, Robotics and Automation Technical Committee, Technology Policy and Management Engineering Technical Committee, AI and Future Technologies Technical Committee, Ai-driven Automation Technical Committee, Electromechanical Systems and Intelligent Control Technical Committee. In the launching ceremony, representatives from the presidium granted plaques and issued appointment certificates to the technical committees mentioned above. The technical committees will deepen interdisciplinary integration to empower industry-university-research (IUR) collaboration and cultivate new-quality productive forces.
Connection and support: deepening international academic exchange and cooperation
AiScholar provides a bridge that connects the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with advanced academic resources globally. In the event, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed between AiScholar and the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), announcing their close partnership in academic exchange, talent cultivation, IRU collaborations, and conversion of research results into practical solutions to boost global technology innovation.
